Reports in the English press this Tuesday morning have claimed Arsenal’s move for Julio Cesar is “close”.
However, it looks like Arsene Wenger’s side have competition from Barcelona who are still grappling with their goalkeeper situation.
Julio Cesar was the outstanding goalkeeper at the Confederations Cup and for a fee of just 3 million euros, following QPR’s relegation, a whole host of big clubs are interested in the Brazilian keeper.
Alongside Arsenal, Sport suggest AC Milan and Roma are also tracking developments with the Brazilian custodian who will almost certainly leave Loftus Road in the coming weeks.
Barcelona look set to sign Marc-Andre ter Stegen from Borussia Monchengldbach but the young keeper looks likely to stay in Germany for another season.
With Victor Valdes still linked with a move to Monaco and with just one season left on his Barcelona contract, the keeper situation at the Nou Camp is in flux.
It is a full turnaround for Julio Cesar. After relegation with QPR, the former Inter Milan goalkeeper is now one of the most wanted custodians on the market.
