Arsenal have suffered a blow in their bid to sign in-demand Real
Madrid front man Gonzalo Higuain this summer after his club confirmed
there would be no talks about his transfer until they have appointed a
new manager, reports the Guardian.
The
prolific Argentina international has already made it clear to the
Spanish giants that last season would be his final one at the Santiago
Bernabeu as the striker’s partner is moving to London to study.
The 25-year-old has been in the Spanish capital for the last
seven campaigns now, during which time he has established himself as one
of the deadliest attackers on the Continent, registering an
eye-catching 122 goals and 46 assists in just 266 matches in all
competitions for los Blancos, including 106 strikes and 39 assists in
only 188 league encounters.
However, despite believing that they
already had a £20 million deal in place to bring Higuain to the Emirates
this summer, the player’s club have now confirmed there will be no
movement on this transfer until Madrid have found a replacement for
previous coach Jose Mourinho.
