Spanish source Marca claims that Arsenal are ‘on track’ in their pursuit of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain.
Arsene Wenger is said to have met Higuain’s father to discuss a move to bring the Argentine forward to the Emirates Stadium on Friday and that the meeting went well from the North London side’s point of view.

Real Madrid are hoping to secure €30m (£25.5m) from the sale of the 26 year old, a fee that Arsenal should be able to cover given the myriad of reports stating that Wenger will have as much as £70m to invest in summer additions.
Wenger is keen to bring in a proven goal-scorer to beef up his attack and there is no doubting Higuain’s credentials, even if during Jose Mourinho’s time in charge of Real Madrid his first team chances were limited.
Higuain has managed to net 122 goals in his seven seasons at Real Madrid as well as 20 goals in 32 appearances for the Argentine national team and is sure to have a fair number of prospective suitors now that it’s become common knowledge that he will leave the Bernabeu this summer.
