Cristiano Ronaldo could be on his way back to Manchester
United with the Real Madrid star set to meet officials from
his former club.
Spanish newspaper El Pais reports
the 28-year-old is due to meet with United in the next few days ahead of a
sensational return to the Old Trafford club.
Real had hoped Carlo Ancelotti's
arrival as manager at the Bernabeu would persuade Ronaldo to stay, the Italian
admitted it would be an "honour" to work with the forward.
But a secret meeting between the
Portuguese star and the Red Devils could pave the way for a remarkable return
and massive coup for new boss David Moyes.
Moyes is also ready to convince Wayne Rooney to stay at United , and Ronaldo's
return could be the perfect incentive to the England striker.
Former United manager Sir Alex
Ferguson had been planning an Old Trafford return for Ronaldo before he retired
in May.
Ronaldo spent six years working with
Ferguson, winning the Premier League title three times as well as picking up
the Champions League trophy.
