Arsenal & Liverpool Target Set For Serie A Switch
Anderlecht’s Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia is close to agreeing a switch to Serie A side Lazio, according to Sky Sports.
The 27-year-old has been a stand-out performer for the Belgian side since joining in 2006, and was strongly linked with Arsenal last summer after the Gunners sold Alex Song to Barcelona.
A move never materialised, but Liverpool were also said to be showing an interest towards the end of the season, while the likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan have also been linked with him in the past.
He has now strongly hinted that a move to Italy should happen in the coming weeks, and it is understood that Lazio are the side to have won the race for his signature.
“I can’t say anything really,” he is quoted as saying. “But I admire the Italian championship and I’d like to play there.
“I’ve been talking to my club directors for some time in an effort for them to comprehend my desire to move on.
“They don’t want me to go, but I have explained my personal reasons for the switch and they have understood.”
Biglia’s arrival in Rome may have strong implications as to the future of Lazio star Hernanes, a player who has been linked with a move away to the likes of Manchester City this summer. Biglia is a similar style of player and could be a replacement for the Brazilian.
