According to the Daily Star, Jose Mourinho’s first job as Chelsea
manager will be confirm the departure of David Luiz to Barcelona
for £30m.
It is worth taking this with an enormous grain of salt. Luiz has been
in fine form for Chelsea in the last two seasons. His is an integral
part of the future of Chelsea, but has developed many detractors
following his defensive failings. David Luiz has been seen, most
recently, as a defensive midfielder by interim manager Rafa Benitez.
Luiz has provided assists and goals as a deep-lying playmaker but
Mourinho is seen to be less than a fan of the Brazilian.
The Daily Star suggest that Luiz is a favourite of Blues owner Roman
Abramovich, but Jose Mourinho has convinced him that the Brazilian does
not fit in with his strict style of play. Blues fans will be
disappointed if the player that has been earmarked as a future captain
is, indeed, sold to Barcelona.
The Special One is set to return to Chelsea after leaving Real
Madrid, but this hardly the initial impact that Chelsea supporters would
have predicted.
Have you say below: will David Luiz leave Chelsea?
