Pellegrini set for City talks after bowing out on end of Barcelona thrashing
Manuel Pellegrini will start talks with Manchester City on Monday after bidding a sad farewell to Spanish football.
The Chilean meets City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, who wants to have Roberto Mancini’s successor in place within the next week or so.
Pellegrini, 59, watched his Malaga side hammered 4-1 by Barcelona on the final day of the season before confirming that City were next on his agenda. It’s going to be tough to leave Spain after nine years,’ said Pellegrini. ‘It’s a country that has treated me marvellously well. A very important stage of my career has finished and destiny will surely take me to another country.
‘We will see from Monday onwards where my future goes. When an agreement is reached, we will say something definite.
‘I have an agreement to start talks with Manchester City. Other rumours will be true, others not. But I’ve focused on Malaga until now.’
