AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani says that the only way for Italian football to combat racism is to treat it as if it were hooliganism.

Milan players Mario Balotelli and Kevin Prince Boateng were the targets of racist chants from traveling Roma supporters in their 0-0 draw on Sunday, forcing the match to be suspended for two minutes.
“”We must end racism because I’ve heard enough of these stories,” said Galliani.
“It’s shameful stuff. It should be eradicated like hooliganism, something no one even remembers anymore. We must talk to these minorities to make them stop, that’s the road we have to take.”
Roma were subsequently fined €50,000 for the chants during the match at the San Siro.
