Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have plenty of battles on the pitch – each match between the two is known as El Clasico for a good reason – and they look to cross swords off it too for the signature of Brazilian sensation Neymar.

The Santos FC forward has shone for his current club since he graduated to the first team, but there is a growing sense that he needs to depart his home country if he is to develop into the world class footballer he could become.
La Liga seems a good fit for the supremely technically gifted 21 year-old, and according to Spanish source AS, both Real Madrid and Barcelona have tabled bids for Neymar – with los Meringues ready to pay close to the €70m that is his release clause – and more than double Barca’s offer.Santos are naturally keen for their star player to move to Real Madrid, for the capital club have offered far more than Barca, but the player himself is more keen on a move to Camp Nou.
The Brazil international is naturally keen to play alongside Lionel Messi at Camp Nou, and with a potential vacancy on the left side of the Barcelona attack – Neymar’s preferred position – it is easy to see him fitting in.
Real Madrid on the other hand have a certain Cristiano Ronaldo in that position, and unless the Portuguese goal machine leaves, Neymar would have to play elsewhere to fit into the side.
