Manchester United have held top level secret talks with Real Madrid where the future’s of both Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo were discussed, according to the Express.

The report claims the Spanish giants are planning a summer overhaul that will see strikers Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain leave the Bernabeu and the La Liga outfit contacted United to register their interest in want-a-way forward Rooney – who’s asked to leave the club this summer.
The newspaper suggests that Florentino Perez met with Manchester United chief executive David Gill to hold preliminary talks where the Madrid president made it clear they would be willing to pay up to £32m to land Rooney this summer.
New United boss David Moyes is understood to be keen to hold talks with the 27-year-old and try to persuade him his future remains at Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen whether Rooney will change his mind and decide to stick with the champions or push for a move.
So while the future of Rooney remains in doubt there have also been reports recently suggesting United are keen on luring fan-favourite Cristiano Ronaldo back to England this summer.
However, the Express claim Perez made it clear to Gill during their meeting that there was no chance the Portuguese superstar would be leaving the Bernabeu this summer and told United to forget about trying to sign him at the end of the season.
