GLO Pledges to Make Nigeria Premier League Attractive: NPL

Globacom, the Nigeria Professional Football League, title sponsor has promised to support all efforts by the league body aimed at making the apex football league in the country attractive.
Globacom's Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Mohamed Jameel, who gave the assurance at the official takeover of the league's title sponsorship, said Globacom was delighted to return as the title sponsor of the Professional Football League in Nigeria.
Glo, on Monday took over as the title sponsor of the Nigeria Professional Football League after signing a three-year contract worth One Billion, Eight Hundred and Ninety Six Million, Seven Hundred and Thirty Thousand Naira with the League Management Company (LMC).
He disclosed that Globacom's primary reason for sponsoring the league "is to develop Nigerian football".
He said that as the title sponsor, Globacom would give maximum support to the administrators of the league in their efforts to develop talents for Nigerian football and make the league attractive.

"Today, we are witnessing the appointment of Globacom as the title sponsor of the Glo Premier League. We thank the Honourable Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi for his efforts to resolve all the issues surrounding the league title sponsorship. We also thank members of the League Management Company (LMC) for all the significant strides they are making to develop the Nigerian professional football league", said Mr. Jameel.

LMC Chairman, Hon Nduka Irabor, described the event as a new beginning for the Nigerian football league, commend the management of Globacom and members of the LMC for their patience in the interest of Nigerian football league.

"This ceremony would have been held weeks back but both parties demonstrated admirable integrity and honesty in the process of fine-tuning the details of the contract which was agreed to in principle a few weeks ago. I pray that we will hand over a structure that will promote the interest of Nigerian football", said the LMC Chairman.

Hon Irabor said with this start, Nigerians would soon see the sanity that had been restored in Nigerian football.

He acknowledged the passion and zeal that Globacom had exhibited in supporting Nigerian football and assured that the telecoms giant would get true value for its sponsorship.
