Having confessed earlier this year that he would consider a move away from the Eredivisie, PSV Eindhoven star, Kevin Strootman, looks set to be one of a few rising Dutch stars to leave their native Holland this summer.

And, if recent speculation from talkSPORT is to be believed, AC Milan have recently joined Manchester United in the hunt for the 23-year-old, already to have captained the Dutch national side in his still budding career.
Another PSV star, Mark van Bommel, played one season at the San Siro under Massimiliano Allegri before moving back to Eindhoven, where he has mentored Strootman this term, something that could undoubtedly play its hand in the midfielder’s next destination.
In terms of style, Strootman resembles current Milan star and Serie A standout, Riccardo Montolivo. Allied slightly more in defence than attack, the pair both operate with very well rounded parameters, acting more as catalysts for those around them.
That being said, the Rossoneri target has still shown himself to be perfectly capable of taking scoring matters upon himself when required, netting six goals and making 10 assists in 32 Eredivisie appearances.
With the defensive midfielder becoming a thing of the past and the box-to-box variety making a triumphant comeback, there’s more of a desire for players such as Strootman, who could feature well in the three-man midfield so popularly utilised by Milan this season.
Allied neither in defence not attack but more of a happy medium between the two, there’s reason to believe Strootman would fit in at Manchester United, too.
With Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs both edging ever-closer to the Old Trafford exit, playing time beginning to dwindle between the pair, calling for a pendulum-like addition in the middle of the pitch, capable of spraying the ball to the Red Devils’ considerable attacking threats.
