Inter – Worst team in the past 3 years!
Three years ago, Bayern Munich v Inter and Santigao Bernabeu for the Champions League title. Inter came after an impressve win over Barcelona with the special one Jose Morinho as their manager. Inter was known back then for their very defensive football which at the end gave them the Champions League title.
In the same year Inter won the Serie A & League Cup and just one game separated them from getting their treble. And it happened, two Diego Milito’s goals secured Inter the Champions League title and Bayern Munich went on to lose 3 finals from 4 finals (and one is very close). Inter beat Chelsea in the round of 16 stage, then beat CSKA Moscow twice 1-0 and the major semi-final, the one that everybody are still talking about, Inter faced the Spanish machine Barcelona for a Champions League final ticket.
Inter started off pretty well with a 3-1 win at the San Siro, and at the Nou Camp Inter foughy for their lifes, they defended for most of the 90 minutes which everyone obviously didn’t like. Barcelona didn’t let go and Pique scored in the 85th minute to spark some life into the Nou Camp. But at the end Inter were the ones to celebrate as Barcelona didn’t found the second goal.
Munich tried to do the same thing and Inter won 2-0 in the final.
But, wait, that happened 3 years ago! What happened to the European Champions since then? It all started with Mourinho’s departure to Madrid, and Inter couldn’t find the right successor to keep them as Serie A number 1 team. Benitez entered the frame, of course didn’t do so well although he won the SuperCoppa against Roma but Inter weren’t in the top of the table as they hoped. Benitez was sacked in the middle of the season, followed by 3 managers that came and went, Leonardo (who is now a PSG director), Gasperini (who led Palermo to relegation), Claudio Ranieri (Currently Monaco’s manager) and now a young, ambitious manager Andrea Stramaccioni is Inter’s manager.
Inter is the first team that Sramaccioni managed. And he is not doing a good job, getting the job on 28 March 2012 and now, Stramaccioni managed 47 games but won only 21 games, this is not where Inter are aiming for. He sold Julio Cesar, Maicon, Lucio, Coutinho, and bought low-class and (and mostly old) players such as Antonio Cassano (30 years old), Ezequiel Schelotto (23 years old), Tommaso Rocchi (35 years old), and more, and that’s made Inter a mid-table teams. They finished this season just in the 9th place, a team that won 5 back-to-back championships in Serie A from 2005/06 to 2009/10!
Inter, The worst team in the last 3 years!
