Former Charlton boss Alan Curbishley was a long-time adversary of Sir Alex Ferguson and has chosen his best Man Utd XI to feature under the retiring boss. Do you agree with his selections?

 Goalkeeper - Peter Schmeichel

It has got to be Schmeichel in goal. When he came into Old Trafford he was the difference in a lot of games. He won a lot of points for Man United. He was dynamic, brave, larger than life and he filled the goal. When you go to Old Trafford you have got to have that sort of personality in you to make sure you're a success. So many players have gone there over the years and not been able to handle playing for Man United.

Defence - Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Steve Bruce, Denis Irwin

Gary Neville was a proper right back. When he had a winger he defended, he jockeyed and made the tackle when he could. His main aim was to defend. The two centre-backs, Rio Ferdinand and Steve Bruce, are a great combination. Rio can come out with the ball and play and - no disrespect to Steve - but he's in there for his aggression, his tenacity and his will to win. And finally, Denis Irwin, who I think may have been Alex's best signing in terms of value for money. He was another very good defensive full-back, but he also got forward and contributed with goals and made goals.

Midfield - Bryan Robson, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes

A lot of Man United fans around at the moment may not have seen Bryan Robson play but he was a fantastic midfield player. He was a box-to-box player, a great leader, tackled - he did it all. He was a complete midfield player, as was Roy Keane. Keane not only destroyed in the middle of the park, he had a great passing range and got his fair share of goals. They could operate as holding players, with Paul Scholes just in front, and we all know about the goals he's got and makes and the way he can change a game and the tempo of a game.

Forwards - Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona and Ryan Giggs

Ryan Giggs is a fantastic servant to Manchester United. He looks as quick as when he first arrived on the scene so many years ago! Ronaldo, obviously we've seen him at Real Madrid and he was only at United for a short spell, but he's world class and a danger wherever he played along that frontline. And I've gone for Cantona because he perhaps changed the face of Man United when Alex brought him in. It was one of those transfers, when he brought him in from Leeds, where we thought 'what's he doing?' But he changed the way they played, he dropped off and received balls from the midfield but could also get forward and join in and get his fair share of goals. I think he changed the culture at the training ground, as well, with some of the exercises he brought in, the passing drills and finishing drills he was used to.
