Free-spending Monaco have turned their attentions to Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic after being rebuffed in a bid to lure Vincent Kompany from Manchester City, reports the Daily Mail.

The newly promoted Ligue 1 outfit, who are bankrolled by billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev, have already added £60m midfield duo James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho to their squad this summer and are reportedly closing in on a stunning deal to sign Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid.
Boss Claudio Ranieri has now turned his attentions to his defence and Monaco are poised to make a £25m offer for Europa League hero Ivanovic.
The Serb is also wanted by incoming Blues boss Jose Mourinho, however. The Portuguese tried to sign the 29-year-old for Real Madrid and will fight tooth and nail to keep Ivanovic at Stamford Bridge.
Ivanovic joined Chelsea from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2008 and has made over 200 appearances for the west London outfit.
The Serbian international has enjoyed a fine season for the Blues, making 44 appearances between right back and centre-half and scoring the winning goal in this month’s Europa League final victory over Benfica.
