Chelsea
will make unsettled Bayern Munich front man Mario Gomez their first
signing of the summer, according to exclusive reports in the Daily Mail.
The prolific Germany international has only been a bit-part player for the Bavarian giants this season, making just 9 league starts as Jupp Heynckes side strolled towards a record-breaking Bundesliga title, as well as a place in both the German Cup and Champions League finals.
And now incoming Blues boss Jose Mourinho is understood to want to bring the tall attacker to the English top flight when the self-styled ‘Special One’ is confirmed as the successor to the departing Rafa Benitez later this month.
Gomez, 27, has a contract at the Allianz Arena until the end of June 2016 and so the striker will not come cheap, however, with 75 goals in
just 115 league appearances for the German outfit since arriving at the club from Stuttgart in 2009 for 35 million euros, the player would be worth his reported £25m price tag
